We are amazed that in society there is an irreducible pocket of irrationality that does not allow itself to be convinced by scientists, who thinks that the numbers of the bulletins are fake, which sees behind all this a great plot for the control of humanity. As if it hadn’t always been there. As if we didn’t brought to Parliament one who claims that we have never been to the moon. As if in the recent past some of us hadn’t believed in the miracle cures of some sorcerer who was good on TV.
I’m not saying this to minimize, but to contextualize: a few days ago, a not-so-small group of Google employees (about 600 people) published a manifesto to oppose the vaccine requirement that the CEO has imposed on all workers. What’s wrong? Who are employees of Google, certainly graduates, will probably also have a prestigious master’s degree, they do an important job for a multinational that rests its vision of the world on infallible data analysis. In short: they are not troglodytes, ignorant or violent like some No Vax we see on TV. Yet I’m No Vax.
How is it possible? How was it possible that there were still fascists after the fall of fascism? And that there are still flat terrapins after Galileo Galilei? Or that there have been presidents of large nations on TV they said that hydroxychloroquine was enough against the coronavirus? It happens because the irrational, the illogical exists and resists. But I give you some news: they are few. Also in Italy. Indeed, especially in Italy, where we have one of the highest percentages in the world of vaccinated people. Then we always talk about No Vax.
