If we care about our dog’s health, it is better to avoid passing him food under the counter which could be harmful

For many of us, two are the keywords of the weekend: relaxation and good food. This is in fact the moment of the week when we can take a break from work stress and relaxation, as you know, also passes through culinary pampering.

After a week of quick lunches and sad salads, we look forward to the delicacies that we will have time to prepare and treat ourselves to over the weekend.

Pizza: a dream for everyone

One of these is perhaps pizza, the absolute protagonist of Saturday night, perfect to be enjoyed with family or friends.

The inviting scent of the oven that invades the kitchen stimulates our senses, making our mouth water. The same goes for our 4-legged friend, if we have one.

In fact, when the pizza finally arrives on the table, we see him running all wagging his tail. He places himself with a dreamy gaze next to us and silently begs us to receive at least a scab.

At this point, moved by those sweet eyes, we give in to the implicit request. However, what many of us do not know is that we must be careful and if we care about our dog’s health, it is better to avoid passing him food under the counter that could prove harmful.

Dangerous condiments

There is no need to think of an elaborate pizza: even the simplest ingredients such as mozzarella, basil or oil would be toxic. Some dogs are in fact intolerant to lactose and in any case salt, oil and spices are elements not relevant to the canine diet.

Beware of this food which can be harmful to our dog

However, it would not be just the pizza topping that hides threats to our Fido’s health. Even more harmful would be the crust or, more generally, the dough.

The problem would lie precisely in the flour, which tends to be refined. Processed food products would often contain not only corn and wheat skins, but also white-fleshed potatoes. The latter are a source of solanine, a substance that would be toxic for the puppy of the house, as it could cause some allergic reactions or gastro-intestinal discomfort.

If we care about our dog’s health, it is better to avoid passing him food under the counter which could be harmful. Not only pizza, but also other dishes hardly adapt to his body.

Forbidden foods

Below, here are other foods that are generally not very compatible with the well-being of our dog:

  • Potato chips and salty foods, which can cause inflammation
  • Sweet foods: biscuits, or even worse, chocolate should be considered truly toxic;
  • Peanut Butter

In light of these tips, let’s therefore try to be careful in choosing the extras to give to our furry friends.
