Young Volleyball Assistant Coach Hospitalized After Sudden Illness
A 23-year-old girl, who was serving as an assistant coach for a youth volleyball team, experienced a sudden illness during a match in Mezzana Corti, a hamlet of Cava Manara in Pavia. The incident occurred during a match of the under 12 provincial volleyball championship.
According to reports, the young woman complained of a bad headache and decided to go to the bathroom to try and alleviate her discomfort. When she did not return, other staff members went to check on her and found her lying on the floor. Emergency services were immediately called and she was given cardiac massage on the spot.
The 118 operators who arrived at the scene quickly intubated her before transporting her by ambulance to the San Matteo Polyclinic in Pavia, where she is currently hospitalized in serious condition.
The sudden and unexpected incident has left the volleyball community in shock and has raised concerns about the health and well-being of coaches and staff members involved in sports. The young woman’s condition remains critical, and her colleagues, players, and loved ones are hoping for her swift recovery.
