New Degree Course in Osteopathy Now Official in Italy

The health profession of osteopathy is taking a new step forward in Italy with the recent publication of the Mur-Salute decree in the Official Journal, which defines the degree path for osteopathic treatment of somatic dysfunctions not attributable to pathologies in the musculoskeletal system. This allows graduated professionals to carry out interventions for the prevention and maintenance of health through osteopathy, either independently or in collaboration with other health professionals.

This development is seen as a significant advancement for the field of osteopathy in Italy. ā€œThe last and necessary formal step to allow Italian universities to establish new degree courses in osteopathy has also been completed,ā€ stated Roi, the Register of Osteopaths of Italy.

Paola Sciomachen, president of the Roi, expressed her enthusiasm for the new degree course, emphasizing that it will enrich the panorama of healthcare professions and provide Italian students with the option to pursue a three-year degree in osteopathic disciplines in the future. She also highlighted the positive effects of this measure on scientific research in the osteopathic field, which can be further relaunched thanks to its integration into the university system.

This announcement has been met with gratitude towards the institutions involved in making it a reality. ā€œA new season full of opportunities opens, I thank all the institutions again, from Minister Bernini to Minister Schillaci, for the work done,ā€ said Paola Sciomachen.

The publication of the Mur-Salute decree marks an important milestone for the field of osteopathy in Italy, paving the way for the establishment of new degree courses and contributing to the advancement of scientific research in the field. The full article can be read on ANSA.it.
