Health Minister Announces Plans to Reorganize Public Health Services

In a speech at an event promoted by the National Federation of the Orders of Surgeons and Dentists (Fnomceo), Health Minister Orazio Schillaci reiterated the government’s commitment to restoring attractiveness to the public service. The event was held to celebrate the IV National Day of health, socio-health, socio-assistance, and voluntary workers and was established to honor their work, commitment, professionalism, and sacrifice during the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Minister Schillaci announced several commitments, including the abolition of the spending cap for staff hiring, an increase in the specificity allowance, and the valorization of trainees. He emphasized the importance of investing in skills and keeping attention high on medicine that is increasingly humane in an era of hyper-technological medicine.

The Minister praised the healthcare, socio-medical, social-welfare, and voluntary sector personnel, who have been at the forefront of fighting the virus and have helped save millions of Italians. He also emphasized the need to keep a high level of attention on the ability to take care of patients with empathy and to listen to their needs thoroughly.

Schillaci highlighted the measures taken by the government to strengthen the public healthcare system, such as increasing the resources of the National Health Fund and extending the criminal shield to the whole of 2020 to give serenity to the work of doctors.

The Minister also unveiled the next objectives, which include the abolition of the spending cap for staff hiring, the increase in the specificity allowance, and the valorization of trainees.
