A large nature conservation project in the Altmühltal is on the brink: it’s about protecting the meadow breeding bird. The district council’s environmental committee has now spoken out against the project. The Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen district office told us this. Apparently there was a lot of protest from farmers, among others, against the introduction of the bird, said District Administrator Manuel Westphal. But fishermen and hunters are also partly against it. The number of meadow breeders has declined massively in recent years. A final decision will be made next Monday at a district council meeting. The Ansbach district council, on the other hand, unanimously supported the protection of the rare bird.
