The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, will be overseeing her royal duties from her hospital bed as she recovers from abdominal surgery. Admitted to the London Clinic since last Tuesday, it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before returning home to continue her recovery, as stated by Kensington Palace.
During her recovery period, Kate’s main goal is to cause as little discomfort as possible to her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis. It is anticipated that she will need two to three months to fully recover and, based on current medical advice, she is not expected to return to official public duties until at least after Easter.
Despite her recovery, Kate will continue to work from her home to stimulate her recovery, although priority will be given to her family and daily commitments. Kensington Palace has stated that updates on her progress will be provided “only when there is significant new information to share.” They also stated that the Duchess would like to apologize for having to postpone her upcoming engagements and looks forward to reinstating as many of them as possible as soon as possible.
Prince William will not carry out official duties during this period in order to be by his wife’s side. Once she is back at home in Windsor, Kate’s work will continue, with her staff already contacting her 30 charities to postpone and reschedule commitments. Her private secretaries will ensure that her work continues, while she recovers.
