Strengthen the anti-Covid vaccination campaign, invite and convince those who have not yet been vaccinated, strengthen the territorial network for home and proximity vaccination. These are some of the issues addressed yesterday afternoon, at the health management of the ASP of Catania, between the top management and the representatives of the trade union organizations of general practitioners, in light of the provisions of the president of the Sicilian Region, which authorizes the companies provincial health services to “sign specific supplementary agreements aimed at encouraging vaccination activities, including at home, through the adoption, upon request, of specific organizational protocols”. Present at the meeting, which marks the beginning of the negotiation phase in view of the signing of a special decentralized agreement, the general manager and the medical director of the ASP of Catania, Maurizio Lanza and Antonino Rapisarda; the director of the Department for Territorial Activities, Franco Luca; the director of the Epidemiology Service, Mario Cuccia; the representatives of the trade unions, Fimmg, Domenico Grimaldi (with delegation also for the Smi), and Cisl medici (general medicine), Salvatore Trova.

“I thank the trade union representatives – said Lanza – for the promptness with which they responded to our sudden invitation, due to the urgency of the Ordinance of the President of the Region. The meeting is in continuity with the great work done by the doctors of general medicine both in the prevention and containment of infections and in the vaccination campaign. In compliance with regional provisions, we want to systematize the experience gained in recent months and identify the most effective organizational models to overcome the emergency phase of the pandemic and normality to services “. During the meeting, a discussion platform was drafted which will be further defined in the meeting already scheduled for next week. “We strengthen the synergy with general practitioners and focus on the relationship of trust that binds citizens to their doctor – explains Rapisarda -. Every year millions of Italians are vaccinated against the flu and it is thanks to family doctors that we achieve these results. . We all want to give a new acceleration to the vaccination campaign, organizing ourselves on the territory in an even more effective and widespread way “. In underlining the fundamental role played by general practitioners in the pandemic, the representatives of Fimmg, Smi and Cisl doctors (general medicine) – Grimaldi, Sergio Lombardo and Trova -, agree that they “have to define a provincial supplementary agreement that allows to overcome the known critical issues, recovering time, resources and more effective synergy organization in order to vaccinate as many people as possible in close proximity “.
