MESSINA – The candidates for mayor of Messina discussed issues relating to public administration in the mental health of the community. They did so in the studios of Camelot social Radio, in the meeting “Psyche and politics”.
To moderate in a radio key the special episode from the web radio station of the Camelot center, the lawyer Silvana Paratore who affirmed that mental health and well-being of citizens must be a priority for the political agenda of the city.
Of the community psyche, paraphrasing James Hillman, Dr. Matteo Allone manager of the day center Camelot Asp Messina adding that it is in the polis that we find ourselves. It is necessary, he added, to affirm a development model that places the individual at the center, taking into account the inhuman violence he receives from a psychosocial system aimed at narcissistic individualism rather than individuation.
The aspiring candidates for mayor of Messina Federico Basile, Antonio Barbera representing the candidate Maurizio Croce, Valentina Zafarana representing the candidate Franco De Domenico alternated at the microphone, connected for remote greetings, Luigi Sturniolo, Salvatore Todaro.

Doctor Gaspare Motta, director of the Asp 5 Me Mental Health department, stimulated discussion by arguing that in recent months we have tried to promote projects that put together the health aspect and elements of enhancement of the social determinants of health that today the world of science has understood be equally fundamental to the well-being of people. The needs of decent living, access to income, true socialization are important and the role of institutions must become synergistic.

A myopia vision in medicine, in health creates economic hardship. Listening to those who know how to do must be preparatory to acting as administrators so that they grasp the problem, feel the needs of a reality to create a union and improve the quality of life.
The invitation to the future mayor
Doctor Marco Xerra, director of the UOC Departmental Mental Health Module Messina North Asp Messina, intervened and argued that the Municipality must be an important interlocutor as the future mayor and the future administration will have to say what model of city you want because well-being psychic is not an end in itself but must be adapted to the levels of life of a city like Messina that every year loses about 3000 citizens.
