5G, artificial intelligence, programming: is school really preparing for tomorrow’s challenges?

The document speaks, for example, of Goal 3: “Health and Wellbeing”, which recommends protecting the health of software developers and users both by ensuring that the development phase is carried out with attention to the conditions of workers and by making sure that the software products are designed to protect the health of those who will use the software. But there is also talk of Goal 5: “Gender equality”, highlighting how gender equality must be ensured in development teams to guarantee quality products, as well as great attention must be paid to avoiding gender bias in artificial intelligence models or discriminatory interfaces, images and texts. Of course, we also talk about environmental impact with Goal 7 “Clean and accessible energy” which recommends designing efficient and low-impact energy systems and solutions that are optimized, shared and reusable. In short, points out Enrico Mercadante of Cisco Italy, “re-reading software development in the light of the SDGs of Agenda 2030 is an excellent way to rethink the life cycle of software so that it is not only sustainable, but becomes an engine of sustainability”.
