NEW THERAPIES FOR ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE Pharmacology

Research points to new solutions to eradicate the problem

From a problem confined to hospital life, antibiotic resistance has now widened its range of action, showing itself as a constantly growing and dangerous phenomenon for the whole world.
There are 10 million deaths a year due to the emergence of multi-resistant germs to antibiotics, according to estimates by the World Health Organization. In Italy the problem seems even more worrying, if it is true that a report by the European Infectious Disease Control (ECDC) published at the end of 2022 estimates that in our country there are at least 19 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants a year attributable to infections by multi-resistant microorganisms, compared to 2 in Holland, the most virtuous of the European countries in this ranking. Worse than Italy is only Greece.
