Open your eyes: dry eye prevention campaign

A cycle of free specialist consultations in ophthalmology is currently underway as part of the national awareness campaign “Open Your Eyes to Dry Eyes.” The campaign, organized by Alcon in collaboration with Sintesi education, aims to raise awareness about Dry Eye Disease and provide free consultations in 18 specialized centers across Lombardy, Lazio, and Campania from 6 to 19 May 2024.

Individuals experiencing symptoms of Dry Eye Disease, such as burning, itching, irritation, foreign body sensation, and photophobia, are encouraged to book a consultation by completing the OSDI 6 questionnaire on the website www.aprigliocchi2024.it or calling the toll-free number 800 226466. Approximately 13 million Italians are affected by Dry Eye Disease, but many are unaware of their condition and do not seek treatment.

Dr. Antonio Di Zazzo, an associate professor of diseases of the visual system, emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and treatment for Dry Eye Disease. Ophthalmologists have precise diagnostic tools to identify the underlying causes of the disease and recommend personalized treatment options.

With the aging population, increasing environmental pollution, and prolonged screen time contributing to the prevalence of Dry Eye Disease, it is crucial for individuals to prioritize their eye health. By participating in the free specialist consultations, individuals can receive a correct diagnosis and appropriate management for their condition. Don’t wait until it’s too late – open your eyes to the importance of eye health and schedule your consultation today.
