Wednesday 17 April, a meeting on the topic open to citizens at the hospital

How is home assistance and palliative care organized in the Pavullo Health District?
The topic is at the center of a meeting scheduled for Wednesday 17 April, from 2.00pm to 2.45pm, in the R. Rubbiani Room of the Pavullo hospital (third floor, Viale Martiri entrance).

The appointment is included in the series of meetings entitled ’45 minutes with’, which sees as protagonists the professionals of the Local Health Authority of Modena and the various services active in the area: in this case Barbara Fogliani will talk about home care accompanied by some operators.

In the Pavullo District, the assistance network at the homes of the most fragile patients takes on even more importance, given the characteristics of the mountainous area and the difficulty for citizens, especially the elderly, to travel and reach the main healthcare facilities.
The Pavullo District network has seen an ever-increasing strengthening and coverage of patients over the years: in 2023 there were almost 1400 patients (1378 to be exact) followed by home nursing care, 42% more than in 2022 when there were 968 those in charge of the service; while – again in 2023 – there were 172 patients assisted by home palliative care, also in this case an increase of 39 percent compared to 2022 when there were 124.
You can count on home care in the Pavullese District 11 nurses divided into the various mountain areas, who also deal with Community Nursing. The palliative care team includes four nurses, a psychologist, a palliative care doctor, two general practitioners with specific training in palliative care.

The collaboration of the family and the patient’s main caregiver is fundamental for the success of home care: for this reason the service operators dedicate specific meetings with relatives for teaching and therapeutic education in order to help people fragile to remain at their home.

“Our services in this area have a crucial role: the isolation of elderly people is often an inevitable reality of the mountains – declares Barbara Fogliani, Coordinator of Health Professions and Home Assistance and Palliative Care Service of the Pavullo Health District -. Our professionals are a point of reference for people for all aspects concerning health and the preservation of psycho-physical well-being”.
