The CEO of Novartis Italia, Valentino Confalone, is the new chairman of EuniPharma, the Farmindustria group that brings together the 35 multinational pharmaceutical companies with European and Japanese capital operating in Italy.
“I am very proud of this appointment and of the possibility of personally representing the demands of EuniPharma, a group of companies that every day is committed to developing and making available the latest frontiers of science with positive consequences for citizens and the entire socio-economic fabric”, said Confalone.
Graduated in Economics from the Federico II University of Naples and with an MBA from the IESE Business School in Barcelona, Confalone boasts many years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector where he has held positions of increasing responsibility in various international groups, both in Italy and abroad, to join Novartis Italia in 2022. He is a member of the presidential committee of Farmindustria and delegate for the association’s Access and Value strategic group.
According to Farmindustria estimates, the 35 EuniPharma companies employ 24 thousand people in Italy and in the last 5 years have invested around 4 billion euros between Research & Development (60%) and production (40%), more than a third of the entire pharmaceutical sector in Italy. In 2021 they had a total turnover of 9.5 billion, equal to approximately half of the total Italian pharmaceutical market, which was also affected by the 40 production sites present in our territory.
