Promoting Health and Well-Being Through Collaborative Walking in Llodio and Amurrio

The municipality of Amurrio is taking steps to promote the health and well-being of its community through shared walks called Ttipi-Ttapa. These walking routes, designed in collaboration with various associations and municipal groups, are meant to be accessible to people of all abilities and ages, and aim to reduce sedentary lifestyle and promote physical activity. The walking routes have been a great success and have received positive feedback for providing both physical and psychological benefits to the participants.

The walks are part of a larger program called “Mugiment” that has been promoted by the Department of Health of the Basque Government in more than 60 town councils, with more than 40 agents involved. The initiative is a collaborative effort between different agents of the municipality to promote health and well-being, as well as social cohesion, intergenerational work, and the integration of people with functional diversity.

The success of this program has led to its expansion into neighboring Llodio this month, under the name “Bidelagun”. The goal is to continue promoting healthy walks among groups of different abilities and ages in both municipalities.

In addition to the community walks, the Amurrio City Council has also given notice that the panoramic elevator connecting Foru and Dionisio Aldama streets will continue to be out of service for maintenance and improvement work. The intervention aims to improve the visibility and security of the infrastructure by installing new glass doors and LED light strips, and cleaning the interior of the glass structure that surrounds and protects the elevator.

The City Council will inform through its usual communication channels about the routes of the next departures for the shared walks in Amurrio. The continued success and expansion of the walks highlight the power of collaborative work in promoting the physical well-being and health of the community.
