A new “social” gym from almost 1,000 square meters in place of a destroyed tram garage: after less than two years of work in its various premises, boxing, skating, yoga, pilates and martial arts will be practiced, as well as dance, dance and even preparatory boxing for children, in front of the unbreakable mirrors.

There is also on site for the municipality Federica Mazzoni, municipal councilor Pd outgoing and candidate for president of the same Navile district, while on the spot Matteo Lepore, candidate for mayor of the center-left, is waiting for a greeting, a slice of cake and a toast. They promoted the site, in order, Aics, the social cooperative Future Anterior, the amateur sports association Gioca and Uisp. THE funds necessary for the works, which intertwined with the Covid emergency, arrived by signing a mortgage, as part of a project financing: “As Aics – illustrates D’Onofrio – we advanced the money and the Municipality approved the state of need and emergency of the gymnasium. It is an intervention for just over 300,000 euros in all, the expensive works were those for the windows. We had the unexpected sewers, to be redone, and then there was a further intervention anticipated by us and then paid from the Municipality, of 50,000 euros “.
Who will be able to attend this new gym: membership
The new gym is available to members: “Once the district assigned the hours of activity to everyone, from next year we will keep the same scheme. You can access the activity with the specific association card, from time to time”, explains D’Onofrio, who adds on the management: “Previously the mechanism provided to pay a rent to the Municipality, now the Municipality to make us return from the 300,000 euros, in 15 years, pays the rent to us. There are other jobs at stake. to redo some floors, thanks to funds from the Navile district: we will also replace the mirrors in the boxing venues, we will put unbreakable ones. By Christmas everything will be ready “, adds the president of Aics. Among the various interventions completed, spaces and offices have been gained on the back: the bathrooms have been completely redone, which now include five changing rooms, and there is now a reception.
The entire floor of the first large room has also been revised, made of concrete to also accommodate skating reserved for children. On the boxing chapter, Maestro Sergio Di Tullio explains at today’s inauguration: “We have always been at the forefront here, in recent years, to maintain the gym, even in moments of great difficulty in the asanitaria emeegrnez. We as an amateur sports association. however, we had the opportunity to carry out some activities behind closed doors, with few people between agonists and members “. D’Onofrio adds: “Some works began even before Covid, but when we tried to start over they closed us. Then summer came and now we have resumed activities a few days ago”.
