A few days ago at Apple’s autumn conference, after the new generation of A15 mobile processor was officially announced, the competition for mobile processors will next come to the non-Apple camp. Including Qualcomm’s new generation of Snapdragon series processors, MediaTek’s latest Dimensity series processors and Samsung’s new generation Exynos series processors are all attracting attention. It is currently expected that Samsung’s new-generation Exynos series processors may be the first to be released because of its GPU cores developed in cooperation with AMD, and its performance status has attracted attention. Recently, Samsung further pointed out in its related promotional documents that the new Exynos series processors will support ray tracing, which makes the products have not been unveiled yet, so that fans will double their expectations.

According to a foreign media “wccftech” report, Samsung’s new generation of mobile processor model will be set as Exynos 2200, which will be equipped with the RDNA 2 architecture GPU core code-named Voyager developed in cooperation with AMD. In addition to the Exynos 2200, the GPU core of this architecture includes AMD’s own RX 6000 GPU, as well as the custom GPUs on the new-generation game consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. And this RDNA 2 architecture GPU core contains 6 computing units, a total of 384 accelerated processors, which can provide support for ray tracing.

The report also said that Exynos 2200 is equipped with RDNA 2 architecture GPU core, the CPU core part is based on the 8-core design, including the core design is expected to have 1 Cortex-X1 super core, 3 Cortex-A78 core, 4 A Cortex-A55 performance core. The entire processor will be built with Samsung’s 5nm LPE process technology. Based on the evaluation of these data, it is expected that Exynos 2200 will have more advantages than the next generation of Qualcomm Snapdragon series mobile processors in game operation.

According to previous media reports, when Exynos 2200 was tested with GFXBench running software, the average frame rate of 1080P Manhattan 3.1 was 170.7fps. Regardless of Qualcomm’s current Snapdragon 888 series or Apple’s previous generation A14 Bionic, the average frame rate of 1080P Manhattan 3.1 fell. At 120fps. As for the Aztec Ruins test, Samsung Exynos 2200 scores are also significantly better than Apple A14 Bionic. Samsung currently expects to carry the Exynos 2200 processor on its flagship Galaxy S22 smartphones and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra tablets. In addition, it has also been reported that Samsung expects to use the GPU core of the RDNA 2 architecture for the processors of the Galaxy A series of mid-range smartphones. However, we must wait for more information in this regard.
