For the “Super Game” plan announced at the end of last year, SEGA has now given more details. According to the interview content posted by Executive Vice President Uchikai Shuji on the official website, “Super Game” actually includes “multiple games” within the same framework. They will all be AAA rated and will be developed on multiple platforms and languages at the same time. Basically, this batch of new works will use Unreal Engine 5, which SEGA believes can bring a gaming experience that “surpasses” regular works.

It is worth mentioning that the company’s producer Masayoshi Kikuchi mentioned in the interview that SEGA will “logically” explore technologies such as cloud games and NFTs. However, considering the previous rebound they encountered when promoting NFT, future strategies should be more cautious. As for the cloud part, SEGA had already decided to use Microsoft’s Azure platform to develop “large-scale, global games” when it launched “Super Game”.

In November last year, SEGA Sammy, the parent company of SEGA, said that it would invest 100 billion yen in “Super Game” within five years. The first work planned may not take that long to come out, but SEGA must be ready for long-term development.
