Senior Life Help has been around for more than 10 years and works with over 300 life helpers throughout Germany to ensure that seniors can stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Many seniors are already supported by Senior Citizens’ Life Support – recently, older people in Steinen in the Lörrach district have also had access to it.
Pre-care assistance for seniors – what does that mean?
Many people are already familiar with the concept of care levels: Anyone who needs care is entitled to certain support services. However, this does not apply in the pre-nursing area. There are offers, but seniors often have to put together a patchwork of help themselves: a household helper, a shopping service, a doctor’s accompaniment, etc.
The married couple Carola and Benjamin Braun wanted to prevent this fragmented compilation by founding Senior Citizens’ Life Help. The goal: to offer all important services from a single source so that old people can live at home for as long as possible. The basis for this is working with a permanent life helper – a person who, over time, gets to know the senior citizen really well and supports them in all matters.
What life helpers can do
“Everything but care” – that’s how Carola Braun describes the Senior Life Help service’s offering. He should receive all the help that the senior needs in everyday life. The only exceptions are nursing activities (e.g. personal hygiene). In consultation with “their” seniors, the life assistants take on household chores, shopping and organizational activities, drive them to the doctor or other appointments and, last but not least, are also leisure and conversation partners.
What’s more: Over time, the life helpers often become friends. They become indispensable supports and contacts for all matters. This not only relieves the burden on the seniors themselves, but also on relatives, who are often unable to help as much as they need to due to their own family and professional matters. This often also relaxes family relationships.
Mr. Stefan Müller is now supporting seniors in Steinen
In the Lörrach district, in Steinen, lives Mr. Stefan Müller, the newest member of the Senior Citizens’ Life Support. Like all life helpers, he works at his own place of residence, with seniors nearby. He has long been drawn to a profession with contact with people, although he has dedicated his professional life to industry: first as a materials tester with a master’s degree in Germany, then in the metal industry in Switzerland.
His active involvement in the church, his love for his family and the desire to do more for people ultimately brought him to Senior Life Help. In this position he can now pursue his dream job, but also give something back to the older generation. Mr. Müller enjoys being out in nature and is interested in politics and world events – interests that will certainly give rise to exciting conversations with “his” seniors.
The Seniors’ Life Help: a franchise company in Berlin
The headquarters of Senior Citizens’ Life Support is located in Berlin. The company works according to a franchise concept with self-employed life helpers everywhere in Germany. The company is run by Salanje GmbH, founded over 10 years ago by the Braun couple and still run as a family business today.
However, there are still too few life helpers in Germany. Senior Citizens’ Life Support is therefore continuing to look for people who can imagine supported self-employment in this area. Training and extensive support during construction are provided, so no previous knowledge is necessary.
