Rome Woman Discovers Pregnancy During Sex Transition Process
In a surprising turn of events, a young woman from Rome, Italy discovered that she was five months pregnant while in the final stages of the transition process to change her sex. The story has been gaining attention on the web as a specialized medical team is now dealing with the case to preserve the health conditions of the unborn child.
The woman had been undergoing hormonal therapies as part of her transition process, raising concerns about potential repercussions on the condition of the fetus. The medical team is currently investigating whether the hormonal therapies could have affected the unborn child.
The path to change sex for the woman began with the psychological process necessary to be diagnosed with gender dysphoria. After starting hormone therapy, the woman experienced significant physical changes, including the development of hair and a beard. She also underwent a mastectomy and received authorization from a Rome court to correct her sex registry and change her name on all identity documents.
However, when the woman went to the hospital for medical checks and analyses for a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), it was discovered that she was five months pregnant. The medical staff immediately took action to assess the health conditions of the unborn child, with concerns about the potential effects of the hormonal therapies.
According to Roman endocrinologist Giulia Senofonte, specialist in transition pathways, āOnce pregnancy is discovered, the first thing to do is to stop the therapy immediately. If the interruption was not immediate, there may be consequences, especially in the first trimester, a delicate moment for the organogenesis of the unborn child.ā
She also pointed out that hormone therapy, while blocking the menstrual cycle, is not a contraceptive, and those undergoing transition typically recommend using contraceptive pills during hormone therapy.
The unexpected discovery has raised awareness about the potential risks and complications that can occur during the transition process, especially in relation to pregnancy and hormonal therapies. It serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough medical supervision and guidance throughout the transition journey.
