Shock on vaccines: the race for the green pass makes reservations fly in the Regions

by admin

For now it is only a first sign, but the shock was felt immediately. After days in which vaccinations were struggling in different regions, there has been a decisive turnaround. The obligation to have a green pass in all workplaces has left its mark since October 15, launched on Thursday by the council of ministers. The announcement effect was enough to make the adhesions jump, which doubled in 24 hours in Lombardy and Piedmont. Boom in requests also in Tuscany, Lazio and Liguria. Under the lens now on weekends, days in which injections normally collapse

First booking boom in the Regions

The first small flare-up on the vaccination front arrives immediately. After reaching an all-time low of first doses for several months in the last week – it has also dropped to solo 42mil in one day – the much desired announcement effect after the launch of the green pass in all workplaces from mid-October immediately reverses the direction of the vaccination campaign. The day after the council of ministers the first doses went up to 65mil, but the effect of the reservations will be seen better in the coming days. For the first time, in fact, requests for vaccines have increased significantly in various Regions: in Lombardy the number of applications practically doubled, rising to 14,568 (just two days earlier they were 6,321). Same thing in Piedmont where almost 4,100 new members were registered in 24 hours compared to 1900 in the previous week. In Lazio, on the other hand, vaccine administrations immediately increased by 10%, while in Liguria it was the governor himself Giovanni Toti to speak of the “green pass effect” with 1,553 injections in 24 hours. In Tuscany in one day there were about 3 thousand more bookings after the decree was passed.

Without the green pass, 4.1 million workers are still employed

He had been the first minister of the PA Renato Brunetta to explain in a press conference – after the yes to the decree – how the Government was counting on “a very great, enormous, very serious announcement effect”. The first data seem to justify the “bet” of the government and Prime Minister Draghi. Now the resumption of vaccinations will have to be verified already over the weekend – when injections normally drop – and especially from next week. Also because time is running out – the obligation starts for everyone from 15 October and it takes 15 days from the first injection to give validity to the pass – and the “mountain” of Italians to be vaccinated is still very high. According to government estimates they would be 4.115 million public and private sector workers who have not yet vaccinated: of these 3.7 million are employees of the private sector, while the others are public employees of which 115 thousand are those – including health care and school staff – who would already be obliged, but they haven’t even had the first dose yet.

If epidemic under control cinemas, theaters 100% full

The government is progressing gradually, always keeping an eye on the epidemiological curve, waiting for the effect of the opening of the schools. The push of the green pass should make it possible to widely exceed the target of 80% of vaccinated over 12 (today we are at 76%) for October, securing the country in view of the arrival of the autumn season, when the virus will be more insidious. If the immunization trend will grow (perhaps reaching 90% vaccinated by the end of next month, this is the will of Palazzo Chigi) and the numbers of infections will remain stable, or almost, then, at the beginning of October, it will be possible to proceed to a season of “Back to life”. By increasing the maximum capacity of cinemas and theaters, bringing them back to 100%, as requested by the Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini, or by opening discos, a theme on which Lega and Iv insist instead. The decision will be made by the end of September. The effect of the reopening of schools that could be seen within the next two weeks will weigh on the decision.
