The microscope function is perhaps the most surprising function of a smartphone that seems designed by marketing to surprise. The billion colors, the photos taken in 10-bit wide color, the microscope function, a new design are muscular proofs that clearly show Oppo’s ambition to become the reference Chinese manufacturer for the Italian smartphone market. Not everything makes sense: the microscope function is nice but the utility is limited. 10-bit photos are spectacular but perhaps exaggerated since on smartphones the photo is an object that is shared in digital format and therefore all those colors are not very “appreciable” if they are not printed. The glass and ceramic design is also pleasant, the photographic sector seems fused into the smartphone and the final effect represents something new but it is not a decisive step forward. Yet, these forward “leaks” must not hide the substance: Oppo Find X3 Pro G is one of the best cameraphones in circulation, a top of the range as they say in really high-level jargon able to compete with iPhone and Samsung Galaxy family.
What we liked
The courage to dare and move the waters in a market that moves with great attention above a thousand euros. Oppo is undoubtedly investing in technology with a clear vocation for photography. The display is very nice, the games run smoothly and even under stress the performance is excellent. As a cameraphone we are at the highest level.

What we didn’t like
Videos can be improved, it is recorded in 4k only with the main camera. The phone costs a lot (1150 euros) but only because we have entered the new pandemic world. Price is the real challenge that any manufacturer must face today: times have changed, innovations in the smartphone must be understandable and able to make a difference. Will it be enough to be one of the best camerphones for Android?
