Sonos’ long-rumored voice assistant service may officially debut next month. According to the latest news from The Verge, the service, which will eventually be named Sonos Voice, will be the first to be launched in the United States through a software update on June 1, and will be available in more markets in the future. It is said that all smart speakers and soundbars based on the S2 platform will support Sonos Voice, and the new Sonos Ray, which has recently surfaced with related rumors, seems to be among them.
Sonos Voice supports a variety of common music playback controls. Its initial streaming platforms include Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, and Sonos Radio. It is uncertain whether it will introduce Spotify and YouTube Music, the other two mainstream services. The processing of voice commands is said to be done on the device, and the relevant data is not sent to the cloud. As for the wake word, anyone can think of “Hey Sonos”. Of course, users can still control IoT products at home through Alexa or Google Assistant on the device.
