Campisi Citrus Hosts Ifeat Study Tour in Syracuse
Last week, Campisi Citrus, a leading citrus processing industry in Siracusan, hosted the prestigious Ifeat Study Tour. Ifeat, the “International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades”, is a trade association representing companies involved in the production, processing, and trade of aroma and fragrance ingredients.
Delegates from around the world were welcomed to Syracuse with a dinner at the Campisi family’s own Gusto Gourmet Store. The following day, they were treated to a comprehensive tour of the Campisi facilities. The visit began at the Antonino Campisi Producers’ Organization, where delegates had the opportunity to witness the fresh packaging process. The tour continued at Campisi Citrus, giving insight into the citrus processing industry.
The highlight of the visit was a trip to the Cavadonna citrus grove, spanning 120 hectares. Here, delegates experienced the manual harvesting of PGI Siracusa Lemons and explored the organic fields of Blonde Orange and Rossa di Sicilia. The day culminated in a Sicilian lunch at the historic residence from the late 1700s.
The natural beauty of the Syracuse countryside left a lasting impression on the guests, who were enchanted by the stunning scenery.
Sicily is well represented in Ifeat, with Campisi Citrus being the only member company in the province of Syracuse. The event served as an opportunity to showcase the region’s rich citrus heritage and its significance in the essential oils and aroma trades industry.
