The best-selling and handsome action game series “Devil May Cry” produced by CAPCOM and released on the PlayStation 2 console on August 23, 2001, officially celebrated its 20th anniversary today (August 23).

“Devil Hunter” is an action game spawned by Hideki Kamiya, a game creator who participated in the “Resident Evil” series. It was originally a plan for the sequel to “Evil Castle 3”, but the developed prototype deviated from the appeal of the “Evil Castle” series due to excessive action and lack of horror, so it turned to the original creative direction halfway through Development, and eventually became the first generation of “Devil Hunter” as everyone knows today.

The game takes the hero of the devil, Sparda, and the unruly character, Dante, born of a human woman, as the protagonist. It tells the story of his fight to protect his beloved and humans. With unique and refreshing action combat combining sword hacking and gun shooting, the charming debut characters and the climax of the story plot are deeply loved by players. A total of 5 positive stories, 1 rumored story, and a variety of mobile games were launched before and after.

The current latest is the “Devil Hunter 5 Special Edition” launched on PS5 / Xbox Series X|S, and the “Devil Hunter HD Compilation” that combines the first three generations of the series is currently on sale on PS4, Xbox One and Steam. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the birth of “Devil Hunter”, Japan’s CAPCOM also announced that the Nintendo Switch version of “Devil Hunter” 1-3 Algebraic Edition will be available from now until September 15 at a 50% discount.
