The health care continues to be the main issue of confrontation in the political debate in the city. The reasons are varied: a certain element is the fact that the expenditure for the sector is equivalent to over 70 percent of the regional budget and therefore the choices of the top management of Asl 5 and of Alisa are kept under strict control. To this, in the Spezzino, are added numbers and data that ascribe to the territory and its citizens the title of cinderella of regional health: this applies to the number of bedsfor the organic endowment of doctors, nurses, technicians and Oss and for the structures hospital. The next opportunity to enter into the merits of the health events in La Spezia will be the Municipal Council of February 28th: on the agenda there is in fact a motion of the municipal councilor of Forward together, Franco Vairaoncologist and therefore a professional who is personally informed about what happens in the wards and halls of the hospitals of the province.
“With this document – explains Vaira to CDS – I ask the mayor and the council to set up a technical-political table in order to address in detail the criticalities of La Spezia health and propose to the ASL management the initiatives that will be considered suitable for improving the state of things. The organism, which it should have address function, not managementshould be made up of the mayor, group leaders of the political forces present in the municipal council or their delegates, a trade union manager for each of the most representative names of health workers, general, health and administrative director of the ASL and a representative of the Court of the Sick ” .
The pandemic emergency is giving at least some respite and for Vaira it can no longer be the excuse for not managing the return to normal health services. “The ceilings of the wards collapseas we have seen recently, 2/3 of the operating rooms are unusable and theAnaao denounced staff shortages equal to at least fifty doctors. And on this aspect, there are constant confirmations from the local health authorities. There is a complete lack of a time schedule that tells how to carry out the transition until the day we have a new hospital. And, to be honest, there is also no tender to entrust its construction: it will take years, it would be important to have a clear picture. The mayor gets his hands dirty and does it with the contribution of the political forces and competent people on the subject ”, Vaira proposes, making himself available to suggest corrective measures.
The councilor of Avantinsieme underlines the silences of the mayor on the matter “while the ASL is as if struck by a paralysis, with staff escapes that increase every day: since yesterday we also lost the head physician of San Bartolomeo’s Medicinethe excellent doctor Giovanni Berisso, which will go to Sestri Levante. And then there are crumbling structures, staff reduced to the bone and a management that does not manage events. Yet not even a voice is raised from the municipal council, it seems that there is not the slightest desire to disturb the operator, or the Region. The situation is no longer sustainable – continues Vaira – you have to beat your fists on the table and the Local Health Authority and the Municipality should ask Alisa for a distribution of forces and resources at the regional level more equitable, directing the new recruitments to the Local Health Authority 5. This is where there is the greatest need: we cannot go ahead with the closures of services. The project Restart meanwhile, it is leading companies to spend almost the entire budget on private affiliated structures within the first six months of the year, with the hope of reducing waiting lists. But there will be no control over the quality of the services provided. And to complete the picture there are patient escapes to other regions. Yet even in Tuscany there was a pandemic… ”, points out Vaira.
The doctor proposes the technical-political table as a test bed for a better management of the current situation, not as a provocative move to highlight the inefficiencies of the system. “On the contrary, the goal is to share problems in order to find a solution. There are issues like the game of Usthe tiredness that grips the staff after two years of emergency and the problem of hospital infections asking for an immediate solution. Not only me or the other opposition advisers are denouncing that things are not like this. Even the undersecretary Andrea Costa and the Northern League Edoardo Rixi they have thundered against the Region in recent weeks, arguing that our health care is full of problems. However, nothing has been resolved. The operators are exhausted and unmotivated, the doctors even have strucksomething that hasn’t happened for many years “.
