The display performance of the new MacBook Pro may also be between GeForce GTX 1650 and Radeon 5500M

Many news allege that Apple is preparing to announce the new MacBook Pro at WWDC 2021, and it is expected to replace it with the new M1X processor (Note), and the relevant exposure test data shows that the CPU design of this Apple Silicon processor will increase to 10 cores, while the GPU will increase from the current 7-core and 8-core designs to 16 cores and 32 cores, or even the latter. It can also be close to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 level display performance.

Note:The current M1X processor is only tentatively named, and Apple may use a different name.

Apple’s next M1X processor is expected to be used in the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, as well as the new 16-inch MacBook Pro that has been exposed a few days ago and is expected to add HDMI and SD memory card slots to the fuselage.

The specifications are expected to be the same as the new 13.3-inch Macbook Pro and MacBook Air launched last year. The difference will also be based on the difference in the number of GPU cores, but this time it may be the difference between 16 cores and 32 cores. It is more clearly positioned than the models launched last year.

According to the currently exposed GFXBench 5.0 Aztec @1440p test data, the M1X processor designed with a 16-core GPU can correspond to approximately 110fps or more display performance, while the M1X designed with a 32-core GPU can correspond to approximately 170fps or more. Based on this data alone, the display performance of the M1X processor designed with a 16-core GPU will be higher than that of the GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon 5500M, while the 32-core GPU design version will be close to the GeForce RTX 3070.

However, compared to the GeForce GTX 1650 power consumption of 72W, the estimated power consumption of the M1X processor designed with a 16-core GPU is about 20W, and when the power consumption of the GeForce RTX 3070 is 93W, the M1X with a 32-core GPU design is adopted. The estimated power consumption of the processor is about 40W, which is still quite power-saving overall.

From the perspective of positioning, it is obvious that the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air launched last year are set as entry-level models, which are aimed at general long-term use requirements. The next 14-inch MacBook Pro is expected to be set for mainstream use, so the display performance It will also improve a lot, as the new 16-inch MacBook Pro will be set for content creation and other use needs, so the display performance will be greatly improved.
