The new Kindle Paperwhites have a larger screen and wireless charging

by admin

There are two new Kindles coming in the coming months: the Paperwhite (139.99 euros, from next October 27) and the Paperwhite Signature Edition (189.99 euros, from next 10 November). Both will be available in black only and can already be pre-ordered.

The device designed by Amazon for reading ebooks – but not only that, you can also use it to consult files in .pdf for example – it is now in its eleventh generation. Compared to the previous version, which dates back to 2018, the new Kindle Paperwhite has a larger anti-glare screen, which now comes in at 6.8 inches, an autonomy that according to Amazon guarantees a use of 10 weeks, the adjustable light tone and a USB-C port for charging which – Amazon data – allows you to charge the Kindle in two and a half hours. Also the bezel of the device is thinner compared to the 2018 model, by about 10 millimeters.

The internal memory, on the other hand, remains 8 GB. AND unchanged is the high degree of protection against water: the IPX8 certification promises the survival of the device if it is immersed up to 2 meters deep (and for a maximum time of 60 minutes). The waterproofness but above all the anti-reflective screen and the extreme lightness make the Kindle the ideal travel companion for those who usually read at the sea, or in any case outdoors, but also for those who love to ‘leaf through’ a book in the bathtub. .

Amazon claims that on the new Paperwhite, page turning is 20% faster than in the past: we will be able to evaluate it only after trying it.

Il Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition, which has a higher price of 50 euros, has an automatic sensor that adjusts the hue of the light, the wireless charging (first Kindle ever to use this technology) and an internal memory of 32 GB.

These days, in addition to the technical specifications, it is also good to underline the environmental impact of these devices. Amazon says the new Kindle Paperwhites “are made with 60% post-consumer recycled plastic and 70% recycled die-cast magnesium. In addition, 96% of the packaging is made up of wood fiber-based materials from responsibly managed forests or recycled sources ”.
