Brazil Facing Worsening Dengue Epidemic
According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil has already reached a staggering 532,921 probable cases of dengue and 90 deaths due to the disease this year. Another 348 deaths are currently under investigation, underscoring the severity of the situation.
In the same period in 2023, the country had recorded a total of 128,842 dengue cases, marking a significant 313.6% increase in the current year. Proportionally, the Federal District (Brasilia) is the area most affected by the disease, with 2,362 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants. The states of Minas Gerais, Acre, Parana, Goias, and Espirito Santo are also struggling with high rates of dengue cases.
