The Tokyo capsule tower on which the future has changed its mind

by admin

Tokyo’s Nakagin Tower was built in 1972 and consists of 140 10m2 studios. In the intentions of the architect who designed it, each capsule could have become a micro apartment or a mini office. Over the years, however, the residential complex has not received maintenance and is now in a state of decay. Several times in the past, there has been talk of a demolition for this iconic Tokyo building, and now – according to Reuters agency – there is certainty: the capsules will be dismantled by March 2022.
