The go-ahead from the technical-scientific committee
Green light of the Scientific Technical Committee to the third dose for over 80s and guests of assisted healthcare residences. According to what has been learned, this is the opinion expressed by the government experts who have instead postponed the decision on the extension also to health personnel: there would be no urgency and they are not fragile subjects.
4,562,910 (according to the latest government report) are over eighty in Italy: of these 4,223,086 are already fully vaccinated, and therefore will be able to have the third dose, while 243,117 are those over 80 who are not vaccinated. The over 80s (including those residing in the RSA) will add to what at the moment can already ask for the third dose: there are about three million among immunocompromised, transplanted and cancer patients with certain specificities.
