MILANO – Workers in the public transport sector prepare for the first strike of the year. In fact, a 24-hour national stop of public transport such as buses, trams and metro is expected on Wednesday, proclaimed by the grassroots unions: Cobas Private Work, Cub Trasporti, Usb, Adl, Sgb, Cobas workers associations e Orsa. “Salary, safety and rights”, these are the slogans underlying the national strike of road and tram drivers, underline the union acronyms.
During the strike the service will be guaranteed during the legal periods: from the start of daytime service at 8.29am and from 5pm to 7.59pm.

The other agitations
The stop follows the agitation scheduled for tomorrow in Rome taxi proclaimed again by the USB, with a demonstration and an assembly scheduled from 10am in Piazza Bocca della Verità. Confirmed too 8-hour national strike by railway personnel for next February 12th. “These are all strikes with which USB calls to defend the idea of scheduled and non-scheduled public service: against the disinvestment policy by the institutions, the rush to sell out to private individuals and multinationals, for contractual platforms that demand wage increases adequate together with humane working hours and adequate levels of safety, to guarantee workers and users”.
