From UNHCR, the UN refugee agency and TikTok, the idea of launching a music campaign in order to promote solidarity with refugees worldwide. The campaign starts with #TheWorldNeedsa global hashtag challenge launched by Unhcr, which will be followed by a series of Live concerts on TikTok from May 4th to 7th. #TheWorldNeeds invita i creatorartists and communities to spread a message of global support for refugees, calling for asylum to be safe and legal for all.

Thanks to the support of Warner Recorded Music, Warner Chappell Music and BMG, Dionne Warwick’s iconic song “What The World Needs Now (Is Love)” will be at the center of the global hashtag #TheWorldNeeds. UNHCR invites the TikTok community to join the challenge and unleash their creativity to show support and solidarity to those forced to flee their country. Starting today, one will be available dedicated information page for selected markets on TikTok. Users will be able to learn about new ways to support UNHCR and show their solidarity with refugees from Ukraine and beyond. The donations will help fund UNHCR’s key programs: from emergency response to support continuing to refugees (in the form of housing, health care and nutrition, income generation, education, legal aid and protection).
