(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, JUNE 07 – “On January 6, I did my duty: to defend the American Constitution. It was a difficult day and I chose the Constitution. Trump was wrong then and wrong now”. This was stated by former US vice president Mike Pence, in a debate with voters of the Republican party on CNN. “I am running for president because I believe the United States is in serious trouble. Joe Biden has weakened America,” Pence said again.
“I hope that Donald Trump will not be tried for the issue of classified papers. The trial of a former president would be a divisive act for an already divided America”, underlined the candidate in the 2024 elections, also mentioning the handling of classified documents by Joe Biden.
“I hope the former president and the current president find a way forward,” Pence said.
“I’m pro-life and I won’t apologize for that,” she said in response to a question about abortion. Pence also praised the US Supreme Court for its historic ruling a year ago that effectively abolished the right to abort abortion nationwide. “He gave America the chance for a new beginning. As president I will support the right to life at every level, in the United States and abroad”, added the Republican candidate in the 2024 elections, claiming that during the Trump administration the Planned Parenthood organization, which supports abortion rights, has been cut off funding.
