Work has started on the new Tonino Guerra gym in Cervia: a 4.9 million intervention

Construction Begins on New Gymnasium at Tonino Guerra Institute in Cervia

Work has officially commenced on the construction of the new gymnasium at the Tonino Guerra Institute of Higher Education in Cervia. This project, which comes at a cost of 4.9 million euros, is being carried out by the Province of Ravenna and will be funded in part by the Pnrr, the state fund for non-deferrable works, and the Province itself.

The decision to build a new gymnasium was made due to the inadequate facilities currently available at the institute. The existing gym, which measures 155 square meters, is not sufficient to accommodate regulation sports fields for basketball or volleyball, nor does it have enough space for all the required physical education classes. As a result, the Province has opted to expand the institute and construct a new gymnasium that meets all regulatory standards.

The new gym will have a total surface area of 1,475 square meters and will include a playing field that can accommodate regulation fields for volleyball, basketball, and 5-a-side football. Additionally, the gym will feature bleachers for 119 spectators, changing rooms for students and athletes, storage spaces, and technical rooms. The design of the gym also includes a multifunctional space that can be utilized for school events and community activities.

Michele de Pascale, the president of the Province of Ravenna, expressed his excitement about the project, emphasizing the importance of investing in educational facilities. The mayor of Cervia, Massimo Medri, also commended the collaborative efforts that made the construction of the new gym possible, highlighting the benefits it will bring to the school and the local community.

Upon completion, the new gymnasium at the Tonino Guerra Institute will provide students with a modern, safe, and functional space for physical education and sports activities. This development underscores the commitment of local authorities to enhance educational opportunities and infrastructure in the region.
