“It is wonderful to be back in Milan to discuss the projects for the new smartglasses with Leonardo Del Vecchio and the Luxottica team”.
With this post on Instagram (and on Facebook) Mark Zuckerberg has made official his visit to Milan, another stage of his tour of Italy which in recent days has already seen him in Siena and Turin, together with his wife Priscilla Chan.

With the founder of Luxottica, Zuckerberg talked about the development projects already started by Meta and EssilorLuxottica on smartglasses. The two companies announced in September 2020 a multi-year collaboration “to develop the next generation of smart glasses”, with the aim of combining Facebook’s apps and technologies, Luxottica’s brands and leadership in eyewear and the technologies of Essilor lenses “to help people stay connected with friends and family”. The first expected product was designed for the Ray-Ban brand, but the Covid pandemic has for now postponed announcements.
Also in his post on Instagram, Zuckerberg shows a photo in which Del Vecchio “uses a prototype of our bracelet with an Emg neural interface that will allow us to control glasses and other devices,” writes Zuck.
