Capresoca remains committed to the prevention and early detection of breast cancer in its users between 50 and 69 years old to protect their lives, through free mammography sessions, which have reached several municipalities in the department of Casanare.

The route of the ‘Rosa’ Mobile Unit of Capresoca EPS has been extended to 14 of the 19 municipalities of the department, reaching by March 2024, 1,058 mammograms taken from affiliated users between 50 and 69 years old, thanks to the sessions carried out in the territory, to guarantee access to this diagnostic imaging examination; with the sole purpose of detecting and promptly initiating treatment for breast cancer.

By municipalities, the balance has been significant in these three months of development of the mammography taking days, as follows: Yopal (188), Paz de Ariporo (121), Tauramena (103), Nunchía (85), Trinidad (85) , Támara (73), Monterrey (70), Hato Corozal (66), Villanueva (66), Orocué (52), Pore (48), Maní (47), San Luis de Palenque (32) and Aguazul (22).

What is mammography?

It is an X-ray test that helps identify malignant transformations in the chest. It is used as a diagnostic test to examine symptomatic women and also as a screening test in asymptomatic women.

The goal of screening mammography is the early detection of breast cancer, before lumps are noticed in the breast, ensuring the high quality of the mammogram and minimizing patients’ exposure to radiation.

Mammography is taken from age 50, every 2 years, until age 69.

Capresoca will continue to carry out this screening until 100% of its prioritized users are impacted, so the Mobile Unit will return to several municipalities.
