Two years later, the parade on 2 June returns to the Imperial Forums for the Republic Day. And, in times of war, the slogan chosen is “Together with Defense of Peace”. Five thousand will parade, including military and civilian personnel, but also 170 horses and 22 helicopters and heavy vehicles. As usual, the overflight of the Frecce Tricolori above the capital will not be missed.

The beginning is with the solemn raising of the flag at the Altare della Patria and the homage to the Unknown Soldier by the President of the Republic who, subsequently, will review the wards along Viale delle Terme di Caracalla. At 10 the parade will start, which will be opened by a representative of mayors with the tricolor band followed by civil health personnel with – new for this year – the passage of a 118 helicopter, to symbolize all those who have been involved in the first line against the pandemic.

For Mario Draghi debut at the Forums

From the ever-crowded stands, the highest institutional officials will attend, starting with President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Mario Draghi, making their debut at the Forums. At the head there will therefore be the Central Band of the Carabinieri, the flags of the Armed Forces and the Guardia di Finanza, the banners of the Regions of the Italian Provinces and Municipalities, medals and banners of the Combat and Weapon Associations and the UN flags. , NATO, the EU and those of the multinational organizations in which the Armed Forces operate.

The mayors at the parade

As mentioned, resuming the custom introduced in 2016 after the two-year break due to Covid, about 300 mayors from all over Italy will parade together with the Armed Forces, Police, Volunteer and Civil Protection. At the head the president of Anci and mayor of Bari, Antonio Decaro, and the president of the National Council, Enzo Bianco. According to Decaro, the presence of the mayors at this particular moment also underlines the role that the Municipalities are playing for the reception and inclusion of refugees from Ukraine, taking on the assistance services in the territories of the country especially for the most fragile population: women, the elderly, unaccompanied minors. An action of solidarity and peace between peoples, according to the values ​​that inspire our daily commitment and which we will take to via dei Fori Imperiali on 2 June ».

Health representatives were also present

And for the first time in the history of the Republic, alongside the Armed Forces, which represent the defense of Italy and the protection of national security, another force participates in the parade on 2 June, which represents the protection of health: the health and social professions , led by the Ministry of Health. Representatives of over 1.5 million professionals – doctors, veterinarians, nurses, pharmacists, midwives, health technicians, rehabilitation and prevention professions, chemists, physicists, biologists, psychologists, social workers – will parade in front of the highest national authorities, as testimony of their valiant commitment. «The future we have before us is a future that also depends on us – declare the representatives of over 30 social and health professions – on what we have done and demonstrated we know and can do, on what we will continue to do. The commitment of those who work for health protection is to treat and assist everyone, preventing as much as possible the spread of viruses, environmental pollutants, pathologies and disabilities ”.
