2022 Oscars, all winners

The Oscars returned to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, opening the evening were Venus and Serena Williams who launched Beyoncé’s video from the Compton tennis courts in a performance of Being Alive the song from King Richard, which earned her her first nomination. While Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes present the 94th night of the stars returned to almost normal after the Covid break. The red carpet is also back in a big way: among the most breathtaking looks, the “shirtless” by Timothee Chalamet under a lame jacket and the tuxedo with Chanel shorts worn by Kirsten Stewart, nominated for the 2022 Oscar as Best Actress for Spencer.

Before the start of the live broadcast, three prizes were awarded to the shorts and another five to “technical” categories, a controversial decision by the Academy which had succumbed to pressure from ABC, the network that has exclusive rights to broadcast. Dune by Denis Villeneuve won four statuettes, for the original soundtrack, sound, editing and scenography while Geyes of Tammy Faye. The first heavy statue, the one for Best Supporting Actress, went to Ariana DeBose for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. DeBose is the second Latin actress to win an Oscar: her first was Rita Moreno in 1962 for the same role in the original film version of this historic title. The 31-year-old actress is also the first openly LGBTQ star to win an Oscar for acting. The best leading actor is Troy Kotsur, the second deaf actor to have won an Oscar. In 1987 it happened to Marlee Matlin, star of Sons of a lesser god.

Charm wins the Oscar for best animated film. Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Yvett Merino and Clark Spencer collected the statuette for the Disney film. The others named were Luca (by the Italian Enrico Casarosa and Andrea Warren), Flee, The Mitchells against the machines e Raya and the last dragon.
