A 7.1-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture in Xinjiang

On January 23, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Wushi County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang. In response to this natural disaster, officers, soldiers, and militiamen from the People’s Liberation Army, Armed Police Force, and militia quickly initiated rescue operations.

The Western Theater Command promptly implemented emergency response measures following the earthquake, including sending working groups to the affected area to guide rescue and relief efforts. The Xinjiang Military Region also activated its emergency response mechanism, dispatching more than 600 officers and soldiers and over 800 militiamen to provide emergency rescue support and basic living security for the affected population.
