A new act of vandalism that compromised the safety of drivers and pedestrians was recently recorded in the south of Neiva.

The operational team of the Mobility Secretariat reported the complete theft of a box from the traffic light network in Commune Six of the city.

The incident occurred after the road intersection of Carrera 33 and Calle 24 Sur experienced a sudden failure in its traffic light system.. Upon arriving at the scene, the technical team discovered that the box had been stolen in its entiretywith the essential electronic components for the operation of traffic lights.

The pin, a key element in the traffic light control system, was vandalized, leaving the signage inoperative at this busy intersection. Given this situation, traffic agents have been ordered to reinforce their presence in the area during peak hours, with the aim of preventing possible accidents and guaranteeing the safety of road users.

Authorities have expressed their rejection of this type of vandalism that not only affects the mobility of citizens, but also puts the lives of those passing through the area at risk. Likewise, it has been ensured that all the evidentiary material necessary to identify and prosecute those responsible for this crime will be collected.

A call is made to citizens to report any relevant information that may contribute to finding the perpetrators of this criminal act, through emergency line 123 of the National Police.
