A hero without any cape…

Eduardo Santos Ortega Vergara

In my hands a special book, a book made by hand, made by a heart full of youth, written by hand and titled “A hero without any cape.”

The person who writes it is my granddaughter, Lucía Carolina, ‘La gran Lucía’ and it is dedicated to who she considers to be her hero without a cape.

He dedicates it to me with that sublime love, those beautiful loves that only happen once in a lifetime, the love of a father for his daughter.

“This book is especially valuable since there is only one in the entire world, and it is the one you have in your hands; written solely for you, on March 4, 2023 and that must be delivered on your birthday, November 1, 2023. In your hands, the writer loves you very much.”

This dedication, for me, makes this book important, valuable and especially unique. The truth is that it filled me with joy and made me think a little and cry too.

The analysis I do is to answer, what does it mean for a girl, tender, sweet, who is embraced by youth and who in her young heart can be clear about what it means to be a hero without a cape?

We must be doing something good to fulfill those expectations in which, through actions, we touch and enter his little heart and he gives me, in his nascent life, that special status.

“Those types of people are the ones who, with their work, allow everything to continue going, that, through their sacrifice, things function relatively normally and thus continue with the usual tasks in times of crisis or exceptional.

Those beings who provide a feeling of peace, tranquility and security, conscious or not, in difficult times, so that everything seems easy.”

I don’t think I deserve so much, but in the face of so much beauty, my eyes filled with tears and my heart with immense pride, I had before me a true classic of literature; not Neruda, not García Márquez, not Mary Daza Orozco… but yes, the best work in which by chapters he narrated what he understood and saw, was its protagonist.

In the first chapter he describes my books: “You have managed to write five books of poetry: ‘Only that’, ‘There is always perfume in the hand that gives the rose’, ‘A poem to the woman’, ‘Valley of poetry’; With that book you won a prize, and one that you still haven’t named; We are all proud of that.”

He then specifically reviews, in the second chapter, my achievements: “You have achieved too many things all these years, like writing books; go out in EL PILÓN and have an admirer named Julia; “You have achieved too many things in this life and that is why we are all proud of you, and you are also on the radio.”

At the end he explains his reasons and explains why he wrote this work. “The reason for this book is to tell you everything you know how to do and what you have achieved; You are my grandfather, but to me you are a father; You do everything you want, one moment I see you lying down and from one moment to the next I see you working.

“You know how to cook… or rather, what don’t you know how to do? “You know and do everything.” Pure innocence and joy to my soul.

It ends with the credits, the writer signs the book: Lucía Carolina Romero Ortega, and a closing dedication: “With a lot of love I made this book, just for you.”

If there is anything more beautiful than this, I doubt it, this is my best and most beautiful gift of tribute received in life. Thank you my daughter. That’s all.
