The U Party elected its new collegiate leadership last Saturday, March 23, during the National Assembly held in the city of Bogotá.

The new board is made up of the former governor of Valle, Clara Luz Roldán González and the former national registrar, Alexander Vega Rocha.

In the assembly, the election of the alternate leadership of the community was also held, where the Casanareño deputy Omar Ortega was elected by a large majority as the national representative of the party’s deputies.

Who is Omar Ortega?

Ortega has a political career of more than 11 years in the Party of the U, he began as a grassroots activist when he was barely 16 years old, then he became a youth leader and later assumed the Vice Presidency of the U in Yopal, a job that At the age of 21, he became a city councilor, with one of the highest votes in history. At the age of 24, he was appointed president of the U Party in Casanare and at the age of 26 he was elected Deputy of the Department

Ortega’s leadership has been recognized within La U, who have seen his discipline, commitment and political results. Reasons that led the deputies to place their trust in the Casanareño leader.

The challenges that Omar must face are great, but today he has put his name in national politics and will have 2 years to consolidate a country agenda that responds to the feelings of the territories and contributes to the strengthening of the party as the first regional political force.
