A new Jovanotti all to color “I think I have beautiful songs”

by admin

Jovanotti received it on Monday in the Pinaxa studio in Milan, where he is mixing the new album. He opened the package he had just received on Instagram and found the Coloring book di Jova Beach Party, a coloring book for adults and children on sale exclusively in the Feltrinelli Bookstores and for the e-commerce sites of lafeltrinelli.it and IBS.it. Published for Open Wor (l) ds, the sustainable product line of Librerie Feltrinelli, it consists of 28 illustrations by national and international artists who have responded to the creative call of Jovanotti and Sergio Pappalettera, giving life to a new project that is also the rather original way in which he announces his return to the scene. The last album dates back to 2017, in September 2019 the last of the Jova Beach Party was held, which closed not only a chapter of Lorenzo Cherubini’s artistic career, but also the season of great outdoor concerts in Italy.

To find out everything, it will be necessary to wait a few days, the fateful November 19 that Jovanotti evoked in the video, but a trail of details has been seen on social media. It is known above all that even this album, as already Oh Life, will be produced by Rick Rubin, a music giant of the past 40 years. With Rubin and some of his musicians, Jovanotti closed himself in a Tuscan farmhouse for a few weeks, in a “space-time submarine useful for getting to the heart of the songs”, to use his language. “There are a few days left to arrive in port, then we will unload the goods that we have collected closed in this kind of spaceship suspended in time and space,” he said on Instagram, and this is what is happening right now. The unloaded goods are now packaged and polished (mixed), then they will be sent to Rubin, meanwhile back in California, who will put his final seal. “I’m crazy about these songs, I think I have beautiful songs” is the final balance.

Among the musicians in the studio it is impossible not to notice Davide Rossi, from Turin who has long been active especially in Great Britain, where he worked a lot – among others – with Coldplay, so he arranged the strings of Live life (2008), a fundamental point in the evolution of pop sound of the new Millennium. Rossi and Jova thus crown a long courtship of mutual appreciation, it will be interesting to find out what will remain of this collaboration on the album. The first album produced by Rubin was characterized by a typical economy of sounds, a minimalism of arrangements that had stripped Jovanotti’s music to the essential.

The other news of the day is that in 2022 there will be another edition of the Jova Beach Party. And this is really a surprise, partly because completing the first edition with such success and with relatively few problems seemed an unrepeatable undertaking: over 600,000 spectators in all, 100,000 only in the final concert at Linate. Then Jovanotti said that more than a tour, it was a start-up. He was up to his word. Indiscretions begin to filter from the various locations: in Calabria there is talk of three dates in Roccella Jonica, in Puglia the mayor of Barletta has made an appointment on 29 and 30 July, in Viareggio and Rimini no official confirmation but the return is taken for granted. There are those who have gone so far as to hypothesize a finale once again at the airport: no longer at Linate but in Bresso.

The Coloring Book del Jova Beach Party it has the task of illustrating the spirit, rather than the image, of the traveling party. Conceived and edited by Jovanotti with Sergio Pappalettera, his collaborator since the early 90s, it gathers illustrators from different generations, who have all contributed with unpublished works, from Matteo Guarnaccia to the musician / cartoonist Davide Toffolo, from Eliyana Beitler, a Native American artist specialized in covers of albums, to Teresa Cherubini, Lorenzo’s daughter, who is beginning to make a name for herself in the field. The Coloring Book is made with 100% recycled material, in line with one of the founding themes of the Jova Beach Party, namely the sustainability of live events. –
