A peace agreement seeks alias ‘Satan’ with the Prosecutor’s Office

José Manuel Vera Sulbarán, alias Satan, faces crimes of aggravated conspiracy, attempted aggravated extortion, displacement, possession of a firearm, aggravated homicide and attempted aggravated homicide, in an investigation carried out by the 11th Prosecutor’s Office of Bogotá, as he is considered the leader of the extortions against merchants in the country’s capital.

However, this subject is now seeking a peace agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, in order to have an abbreviated process against him. Therefore, the arraignment hearing that was scheduled against him was suspended following the request of the defense attorney and was scheduled for June 17. During that time, details of an eventual agreement with the prosecuting entity will be finalized, which according to the hearing is already advanced.

In this sense, the First Criminal Judge of the Specialized Circuit of Bogotá, indicated that in view of the request made by the defendant’s defense and the rights that assist him, not only the approach he has with the lawyer but an early termination of the process.

“As the defense and the Prosecutor’s Office have stated and that in a week they have had conversations for the corresponding purposes and in response to the defense’s intention that details for this negotiation remain to be finalized, the office will agree to the defense’s request for suspension.” said the judge.

It should be noted that Vera Sulbarán is being held in the Valledupar High and Medium Security Penitentiary, called ‘La Tramacúa’.
