A video in the Leri Cavour estate celebrates 180 years of “Va ‘Pensiero”

Vercelli celebrates the 180th anniversary of the “premiere” of Verdi’s Nabucco, staged at the Teatro della Scala in Milan on March 9, 1842. A music video of the “Va ‘Pensiero”, which will also become the closing theme for a broadcast on Sky, it was registered in the three suggestive agricultural estates of the Benso di Cavour family located in Piedmont: Santena, Grinzane Cavour and Leri Cavour, the latter on the territory of the Grange and, specifically, of Trino. The clip was made by the Camillo Cavour Foundation, in collaboration with the «LERI Cavour» Association and the Cavour Regional Piedmontese Enoteca. The participation of the province of Vercelli does not end here, since the piano performer of “Va ‘Pensiero” is Roberto Amadè, singer-songwriter from Tricerro and president of the LERI Association, a reality born in Trino with the aim of bringing the agricultural estate adjacent to the former Galileo Ferraris thermoelectric plant. Together with a group of volunteers, the association has tried to put the village back on track after years of neglect and abandonment. One of Leri Cavour’s salons, perhaps the most beautiful one that still retains several frescoes, was the background for part of the video clip: Amadè engages with an exciting version of Verdi’s opera, performing it on the grand piano and voice. Precisely in Leri, on 17 September 1859, the Piedmontese statesman and the Emilian composer, future senator of the Kingdom of Italy, met for the first time: a decisive meeting for Cavour’s entry into politics. The video clip is completed by images taken from the top of the castle of Grinzane Cavour, seat of the regional wine shop and center of the agricultural estate owned by the Cavour family; and Santena, home of Camillo Benso’s family and seat of the Camillo Cavour Foundation.

For Amadé, by Tricerro, it is a new piece that adds to his artistic career. «As a musician he fills me with pride – says the artist and president of the LERI association -. Not only because the video was also made in Leri Cavour, but also because I am very attached to La Scala, since my father spent 40 years as a double bass player in the Milanese theater. But this project is important for the Leri estate, because it is a way to enhance it and to be seen more and more in the circuit of Cavour’s poles. The hope is that the first redevelopment works of Casa Cavour will start. The commitment of the volunteers, at least fifteen, who participated in the making of the video, bringing lights and heating into the rooms of Casa Cavour should be emphasized ». The Municipality of Trino also collaborates in the project. Directed by Riccardo Antonino of Robin Studio.

The video will become the closing theme of the 2 episodes of «Discovering Turin», a program conceived and conducted by the writer and journalist Antonella Frontani, which will be broadcast on Sky Explorer (channel 176) and will also tell about Leri Cavour and Trino. At the moment it is possible to see it on the YouTube channel of the Camillo Cavour Foundation. –
