From this Sunday, May 5, until Friday, May 10, the heart of Medellín will receive special attention from the city’s mayor’s office, in conjunction with the business community and the unions based in commune 10, La Candelaria.
Downtown Week, as this activity has been called, seeks to work in an articulated manner to beautify and strengthen this territory, with a diverse program in various areas that will be recovered for citizen enjoyment.
Among the proposed activities, the following stand out:
Day of beautification, solid waste collection, planting of trees, through the Cleaning and Decoration Committee. Raising awareness on the issue of begging. Salvavidas and Medellín Joven Strategy, which will take place in Junín and San Ignacio square. Awareness raising in environmental education, solid waste management and recycling. Raising awareness among the community of automotive mechanics workshops, street dwellers, urban art and gardening.
Programming:
Sunday, May 5: Cisneros. From the Metro station to the field on Regional Avenue.
Monday, May 6: Junín Passage between Caracas and La Playa streets. Let’s go back to Juniniar!
Tuesday, May 7: Plazuela de San Ignacio
Wednesday, May 8: Cra. Bolívar between Maturín Street and San Juan Avenue.
Thursday, May 9: Maturín between Cra. Bolívar and Cra. Cúcuta.
Friday, May 10: Park of Lights.
Downtown Week will be an opportunity to strengthen ties and work together, the public and private sectors, for the well-being and development of downtown Medellín.
