The woman, from Vicenza from Cassola, was 54 years old. He was with his partner and a couple of friends
VAL DI ZOLDO. A hiker died in the early afternoon of today, after falling on a path on the Sasso di Toanella, between the Val di Zoldo and Ospitale di Cadore. The woman was descending along the normal route with her partner and another couple when, just below the summit, she lost her balance and fell into the void. When the alarm was triggered around 2 pm, the couple of friends remained stationary at the point where the accident had occurred, while the companion began to descend to try to reach the 54-year-old woman from Cassola (Vi).
The helicopter of the Suem di Pieve di Cadore arrived on the spot and during the reconnaissance it identified the body on the scree of Forcella de la Toanella, where it landed a helicopter rescue technician and a doctor, who was only able to ascertain the death of the hiker. The air ambulance then flew to take two technicians from the Longarone Alpine Rescue in support of the operations, then, once disembarked, after having seen where he was, in a first rotation it embarked the woman’s companion and in a second rotation it provided to bring the second pair back downstream.
The helicopter finally returned to the scree to retrieve rescuers and body and transport it to Davestra.
