Administrative elections: in Cuneo there are already four candidates for mayor, while the parties are postponing the choice

by admin

With the exception of the Democratic Party which has chosen the former senator and current deputy mayor Patrizia Manassero (but must discuss it with all the allies and the verdict will not arrive shortly), for now all the parties present in Parliament are silent: center-right and 5 Star Movement , but also Action and Italia Viva. Meanwhile, there are already 4 official mayoral candidates in the next elections for the capital: after two terms Federico Borgna will no longer be able to reapply and who knows how his career in politics will continue.

Among those who would like his place is Giancarlo Boselli, 60, a banker: he was deputy mayor and councilor in the councils of Alberto Valmaggia in 2002-2012 and after almost a decade away from active politics (and as a former militant of the Democratic Party) he started the election campaign 8 months ago with the Independents list. In October he opened his electoral committee in via Meucci. “Only an independent mayor who is far from political parties – he explains – will have the strength to make the necessary decisions for the future of the city. Over the years Cuneo has lost the ability to be a point of reference ». Then there is Giuseppe Lauria, labor consultant, 60 years old and 25 opposition councilor (he was also a former councilor and provincial councilor), ready to run for the fourth time as mayor. He is also the new chairman of the National No Green pass public administrators committee. “My story is on the right – he says – my current position is civic: the goal is a management of the city beyond the parties that have plastered the choices of the capital. Tens of millions have been spent in recent years: not to change the city, but to patch up and cycle paths ».

In December, 70-year-old Luciana Toselli, a former doctor of the Santa Croce, a left-wing opposition city councilor, also presented herself officially. Who had attacked: «Borgna’s majority is a hybrid governance, from the Democratic Party to those who sympathize with the right. Even recently it has shown that it is subject to economic centers, whose needs prevail over the general interest ». The fourth candidate emerged the other afternoon, surprisingly: Silvio Bessone, 55, pastry chef from Vicoforte Mondovì, who had already run as candidate for mayor in Mondovì in 2012. With him the “Autonomous and VAT number” list: the official presentation it will be Saturday, meanwhile on facebook he has already explained: “I was asked to change the political nihilism of a city run for decades by a false Christian Democratic left, with a focus more on the distribution of tips than on programming”.

The issues at the center of the debate in the coming months have already partially emerged: from the transfer of the hospital to the underground park in Piazza Europa (the last and most expensive of the projects of the suburbs call), but also the ring road, the future of the former Montezemolo barracks , land consumption in the hamlets. –
