The Casablanca Security Prefecture announced the results of field research and technical investigations related to a controversial videotape that was widely circulated on social media platforms, allegedly documenting an incident of a physical assault on a person breaking the fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

Research conducted by the Information Vigilance Services of National Security confirmed that the facts documented in the video are not real and do not represent real criminal acts, but rather a staged charade with the aim of disseminating them on social media platforms. This misleading video has undermined citizens’ sense of security and physical safety.

According to a report from the Casablanca Security Prefecture, the identities of two of the people involved in filming the video have been identified, as well as the owner of the motorcycle that appeared in the video itself. The two suspects were detained on Monday on charges of documenting the video under theoretical guard, while the bike owner was submitted for judicial investigation under orders from the competent Public Prosecution.

The detainees are being investigated to determine the background behind the filming of this misleading video, which contains a report about a fake crime that its photographers know did not occur, which led to the dissemination of false news that affects citizens’ sense of security and stability.
